On July 21, 2024, at approximately 10:21 p.m., Portales Police Department officers responded to a reported gunshot victim at a residence in the 300 block of South Avenue E. Upon arrival, they found 18-year-old Demariay Singleton bleeding from a head wound. He was immediately transported to Roosevelt General Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Singleton succumbed to his injuries overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
