On March 16, 2016, a tragic and violent incident occurred in Portales, New Mexico, resulting in the deaths of 39-year-old John Jesse Bustamante and 31-year-old Christina Winters-Griffin. The bodies of the two victims were discovered inside a house that was engulfed in flames at 917 N Avenue J. Upon investigation, it was determined that both victims had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, indicating a premeditated and violent act.
