On October 21, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Roswell police responded to reports of a man lying on Orchard Avenue, just south of East Third Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 46-year-old Joseph Riley Russell with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and chest area, along with other injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
