On March 21, 2023, 18-year-old Hailey Nieto was shot and killed in a downtown Reno apartment. The perpetrator, Todd Tonnochy, shot Nieto in the head before partially dismembering her body to fit it into a duffel bag. Tonnochy, along with another man, later disposed of her body in a remote area in Cold Springs.
