In the early moments of November 2, 2024, a burst of violence outside a popular Reno tavern cut short the life of Andrej Igor Kucher, a 36-year-old White / Caucasian male. The fatal encounter unfolded just after midnight at Shea's Tavern in Reno's Midtown district, a place that would become the final backdrop to Kucher's vibrant existence. He was struck by a gunshot wound to the head and, despite being rushed to Renown Regional Medical Center, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The incident did not spare others, as three other individuals were also caught in the gunfire. One man was left in critical condition, while another man and a woman sustained injuries that were described as stable. The Reno Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the tragic events that had shattered the late-night calm. Their efforts led to the arrest of a suspect later that same day.

Authorities took 42-year-old John Paul Seger into custody in connection with the shooting. He is facing a slate of serious charges, including open murder, three counts of battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Following his arrest, Seger was incarcerated at the Washoe County jail where he was held without bail.

Andrej Kucher, originally from Canterbury, Connecticut, was remembered as a man with a deep love for life, family, and a wide circle of friends.
