In the pre-dawn hours of February 18, 2024, a domestic disturbance call led 27-year-old Caucasian male police officer Matthew Ruge and his colleagues to a home on 33rd Avenue South in Burnsville, Minnesota. Inside, a man named Shannon Gooden, 38, had barricaded himself with his family, including seven children.
