On May 21, 2023, 20-year-old Armando Garcia Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, was fatally shot in Haysville. Deputies from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office responded around 12:30 a.m. to the 3000 block of East 79th Street South, where they found Garcia with a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
