In the early hours of May 25, 2023, the community of Vacherie, Louisiana, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire on Perkins Street. When St. James Parish Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene shortly after midnight, they discovered a young man who had been shot multiple times. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Marquese Anthony “Que” Blain, a male resident of Vacherie.
Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Marquese, born on June 9, 1997, was known to his friends and family as “Que.” He was a father to one daughter. His death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have reached out to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for his death.
Despite the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of Marquese Blain, no arrests have been publicly announced, and no suspects have been officially named. The Sheriff's Office continues to seek assistance from the community to bring closure to the case and deliver justice for Marquese and his family. A reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
