On a tragic summer day, the life of 35-year-old Latiffany S. Anderson, a Black female from Clayton, Louisiana, was cut short in a devastating act of violence. The events of July 29, 2023, unfolded from a domestic dispute into a heart-wrenching murder-suicide that left a community in mourning.
The day began with Latiffany and her partner, 24-year-old Deandra J. Griffin, in a vehicle with a child, heading to a local store.
An argument erupted between the couple during the drive, escalating with horrifying speed. Griffin drove across a bridge into Catahoula Parish, where he produced a firearm and shot Anderson.
Following the shooting, Griffin drove back to a residence at 141 Dianne Street in Clayton. Upon exiting the vehicle, he turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 3:40 p.m. reporting the shooting. When authorities arrived, both Latiffany Anderson and Deandra Griffin were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly determined the incident to be a murder-suicide. With the perpetrator deceased, the case was subsequently closed. The community was left to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a mother and friend, a stark reminder of the destructive potential of domestic disputes.
