In the fall of 2017, the life of Demetrius Barshar Lamont Jolly, a 34-year-old male United States Marine veteran, was cut tragically short on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona. On the night of Saturday, October 21, 2017, a dispute between rival motorcycle clubs escalated into deadly violence, leaving Jolly fatally wounded. The altercation occurred behind a bar located near 13th Avenue and Grant Street, an area that would become the final scene of the decorated veteran's life.
