On a Tuesday afternoon, November 14, 2023, the life of 25-year-old Keron Khalil Briggs, a Black male from Laplace, Louisiana, was tragically cut short in St. Rose. The incident unfolded around 2:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Turtle Creek Lane, where Briggs was involved in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance outside a vehicle. The dispute escalated, resulting in Briggs sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and torso.
He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office quickly launched an investigation into the shooting. Through witness accounts and detective work, they identified 16-year-old Marco Henry Henderson as the suspect. It was reported that the altercation leading to the fatal shooting occurred shortly after Henderson had gotten off his school bus.
Following the identification, a warrant was issued for Henderson's arrest on a charge of second-degree murder. Authorities sought the public's assistance in locating him, describing him as a dark-complected black male, 5'8' tall, and weighing 165 pounds with a slim build. Subsequently, Marco Henry Henderson was arrested and formally charged in connection with the death of Keron Khalil Briggs.
