In a tragic turn of events stemming from a family dispute, 21-year-old Helen Ary was killed in a shooting in Walker, Louisiana. The incident, which also claimed the life of her 58-year-old father, Kenneth Ary, unfolded on the evening of January 17, 2024, at their home in the Pleasant Oaks Mobile Home Park. Helen, a resident of Texas, was visiting her family at the time.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, an argument broke out between Helen, her father, and her
22-year-old sister, Kennetra Ary. The altercation escalated, leading Kennetra to allegedly retrieve a firearm and open fire on her sister and father. Both Helen and Kenneth Ary sustained fatal injuries in the shooting.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials arrested Kennetra Ary. She was subsequently booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center and is facing two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of her sister and father. Investigators have indicated that no other individuals were involved in the altercation that led to the deadly shooting.
