The incident unfolded as a gray Dodge Challenger with racing stripes pulled alongside Magee, and
an occupant of the vehicle opened fire with an automatic rifle, striking him multiple times. Following the shooting, the vehicle fled the scene. Relatives of Magee indicated that they believed the perpetrator was likely from the same Marrero area where Magee resided.
