In what began as a roadside dispute on a Louisiana highway, a confrontation between two men escalated, leaving one dead and the other facing a murder charge. The victim was identified as Gurpreet Singh Judge, a 36-year-old male truck driver from California. The incident unfolded on the morning of April 23, 2024, on an I-20 on-ramp in Greenwood.
Dashcam footage from the scene captured a heated altercation between Judge, who was driving a semi-truck, and the driver of a dark-colored SUV. Both vehicles had pulled off to the side of the road. Reports indicate that Judge attempted to strike the other driver with a flashlight. However, upon seeing that the other man was armed with a gun, Judge turned and fled on foot back towards the interstate.
The armed man, later identified as 34-year-old Amanvir Singh of Mississippi, allegedly fired his weapon multiple times, striking and killing Judge at the scene. Following the shooting, Singh reportedly fled the area, heading west towards Texas. It was later reported that the two men knew each other prior to the fatal encounter.
Law enforcement officials with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office launched an investigation and quickly identified Amanvir Singh as the suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of second-degree murder. Singh was subsequently taken into custody in Jackson, Mississippi. Authorities in Louisiana are working with their Mississippi counterparts to extradite him to Caddo Parish to face the charges. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
