A recent high school graduate with a promising future, 18-year-old Donald Ray Morrison, Jr. was killed by gunfire on July 8, 2024, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. The young man, known to his loved ones as 'Bubba,' was a resident of Delhi, Louisiana. He was born on December 14, 2005, to his parents Donald Ray Morrison, Sr., and Kizzy Brown.
Morrison was an honors graduate from Delhi High School, having just received his diploma on May 17, 2024.
He had plans to continue his education at Grambling State University, where he intended to pursue a degree in industrial engineering. In addition to his academic achievements, he was a talented athlete who excelled in basketball, baseball, and football, with a particular passion for baseball. He was also an active member of his church, the Morning Star Baptist Church in Dunn, Louisiana, where he served as a junior deacon and usher, sang in the choir, and assisted with the maintenance of the church. To stay busy, he held jobs at both McFarland Funeral Home and a local Sonic.
The death of this young man has deeply affected his family and the community, who remember him as a devout Christian who had accepted Christ at a young age. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters, as well as a large extended family. As of now, information regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting has not been made publicly available. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
