In the late summer of 2023, the quiet community of McKee, Kentucky, was unsettled by the deaths of a local couple. Randy Glenn Baker, a 53-year-old White/Caucasian male, was found deceased near his home on Cave Springs Road. The discovery was made on the evening of Saturday, August 5, 2023, when the Jackson County Sheriff's Office received a call and requested the assistance of the Kentucky State Police.
Upon their arrival, investigators found both Randy Baker and his wife, 44-year-old
Tammy Baker, with fatal gunshot injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner. Randy Baker's death was determined to have occurred on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
As the investigation into the double fatality progressed, the Kentucky State Police indicated that they were not actively searching for any suspects in connection with the deaths. Preliminary findings from the investigation suggested that Tammy Baker's gunshot wound was self-inflicted. While the full circumstances surrounding the deaths of Randy and Tammy Baker remain under investigation by KSP Post 7 Detective David Hobbs, authorities have not indicated any outside involvement.
