On July 14, 2011, Demetrius E. Owens, 29, was shot and killed in Miami, Florida. The shooting took place in the Little Haiti neighborhood and resulted in multiple fatalities, including that of Demetrius Owens. He was shot alongside others during an incident that left the community shaken. The case was highlighted in an episode of "The First 48," which portrayed the challenges Miami detectives faced due to a lack of witnesses willing to cooperate, which hindered their ability to solve the case.
