On June 27, 2024, the discovery of an abandoned car in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area led to a grim finding at the Benton, Kentucky, home of 44-year-old Jesse Allen Moore. After U.S. forestry agents reported the vehicle, Kentucky State Police traced it back to Moore. When troopers arrived at his residence in the Possum Trot area of Marshall County to make contact with him, they found him deceased inside.
