In the early hours of Wednesday, July 10, 2024, a dispute on Polly Hollow Road in Perry County, Kentucky, ended in tragedy, claiming the life of 20-year-old Braxton Kyle Marlowe. The young man, a resident of Hazard, Kentucky, was fatally shot during the altercation. Born on September 10, 2003, in Hazard, Braxton was a father who was known for his love of the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers and horses.
The incident also resulted in the death of another individual, 18-year-old Anthony Stidham, and left a third person injured. In the wake of the double homicide, Kentucky State Police arrested two individuals. Treston Combs, 20, of Bulan, was identified by authorities as the alleged shooter and was charged with murder, attempted murder, and wanton endangerment. Emmaleigh Collins, 19, of Jeff, was also taken into custody.
Investigators alleged that following the shooting, Collins drove Combs to her residence, where the firearm believed to have been used in the incident was later discovered hidden in a drawer. Collins was initially charged with complicity to murder. However, her charge was later amended to facilitation to murder after it was reported that Combs had allegedly threatened her. Both Combs and Collins were arraigned and pleaded not guilty. Combs was held without bond.
