On July 10, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., Kentucky State Police responded to a shooting near Polly Hollow in the Avawam community of Perry County. The incident resulted in the deaths of 18-year-old Anthony Joseph "Crow" Stidham and 20-year-old Braxton Marlowe. Another individual sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital; their identity has not been disclosed.
