In a quiet corner of Albany, Kentucky, the life of 78-year-old Linda Ruth Crouch came to a tragic and unexpected end on Monday, October 7, 2024. A resident of this close-knit community, she was discovered deceased inside a home located at 194 Lakepoint Drive, the victim of a violent act that also claimed the life of her friend.
The events of that day unfolded into a somber tale of a double murder-suicide.
Alongside Linda Crouch, authorities found 76-year-old Linda Flowers, also of Albany, deceased within the residence. Both women had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The investigation pointed to Linda Flowers' son, 45-year-old Brent Flowers, as the perpetrator of the tragic events. His body was discovered outside the home, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to the Clinton County Coroner, the two women had attended church together on Sunday morning and later went out for a meal before returning to Linda Flowers' home. It is believed the shootings occurred on that Sunday. Authorities were prompted to check on the welfare of the women on Monday, leading to the grim discovery at approximately 11:45 a.m.
As the investigation by the Kentucky State Police continues, a motive for the devastating actions of Brent Flowers has not been released. The community was left to mourn the loss of two of its members, their lives cut short in a sudden and violent manner. Linda Ruth Crouch was remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
