On a tragic afternoon in Corbett, Oregon, the life of Heather Lynn Booker Briscoe, a 47-year-old White/Caucasian female, was cut short in an act of domestic violence. On June 3, 2023, at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office received multiple 911 calls reporting a domestic disturbance and the sound of gunshots near the 37000 block of East Historic Columbia River Highway.
The serene setting of a local RV park was shattered by the violence that unfolded within.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a grim scene. Heather Lynn Booker Briscoe was found deceased, having sustained fatal wounds from a shooting. Witnesses at the scene provided harrowing accounts, stating they had heard gunshots and saw a man, later identified as Heather's 47-year-old husband, Brandon Lewis Briscoe, walking away from the area with a gun in his hand. The prompt response of law enforcement led to the swift apprehension of Brandon Briscoe in the parking lot of a nearby fire station. During his arrest, he made several statements to the deputies indicating that he had killed his wife.
The investigation that followed was a collaborative effort led by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Detectives Unit and the East County Major Crimes Team. Brandon Lewis Briscoe was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on serious charges, including second-degree murder-domestic violence, felon in possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon. Though he initially entered a plea of not guilty, the legal process moved forward. On March 20, 2024, Brandon Lewis Briscoe pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm, constituting domestic violence, as well as unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. This plea was part of a negotiated agreement.
The culmination of the case came with his sentencing, where he was ordered to serve 25 years in prison. Following his incarceration, he will be subject to three years of post-prison supervision. The resolution of the legal proceedings brought a measure of closure to a case that began with a violent domestic dispute and ended in the tragic loss of a life.
