On June 25, 2023, the body of Joshua Alexander, a 34-year-old resident of Roseburg, Oregon, was discovered near the Interstate 5 milepost 101 interchange, close to Canyonville in Douglas County. The Oregon State Police reported that Alexander had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into Alexander's death was led by the Oregon State Police, with the Douglas County Major Crimes Team activated due to the crime scene's location within an Oregon Department of Transportation right-of-way. Following an extensive investigation, two suspects were identified and arrested in connection with the murder.
Allen Lloyd Swindler, 36, of Sutherlin, Oregon, was arrested on July 20, 2023. He was already in jail at the time of his arrest on other charges, which included assault, stalking, resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon, and felon in possession of body armor. Swindler, who identified himself as a Proud Boy, had a history of run-ins with the law, including previous convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm, robbery, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The second suspect, Sierra Sioux Jennings, 34, also of Sutherlin, was arrested on July 26, 2023. Jennings is believed to be Swindler's girlfriend, according to sources familiar with the pair.
The motive behind the murder appears to be linked to a long-standing feud between Swindler and Alexander, which was partly over a woman with whom Swindler was obsessed. This conflict had been publicly documented on Swindler's TikTok account, where he made several threatening posts directed at Alexander in the days leading up to the murder. After Alexander's death, Swindler posted videos that seemed to reference the incident, further implicating himself in the crime.
Both Swindler and Jennings have been charged with second-degree murder and are currently being held at the Douglas County Jail. The investigation remains active, and no further information has been released by the authorities at this time.
