On a summer evening in Salem, Oregon, the life of a 34-year-old White / Caucasian man, Steven Michael Hill, was cut short. On July 1, 2023, at around 7:00 p.m., passersby discovered Hill on a sidewalk at the intersection of Northeast Silverton Road and 17th Street, near the Oregon State Fairgrounds.
