In the early hours of a Sunday morning, on June 25, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Jayden Santos-Andrade of Dorchester, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on Alfred Road in Braintree, Massachusetts. Just a month shy of his twentieth birthday, Santos-Andrade was in a parked car with two other individuals when the shooting occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Responding to multiple 911 calls reporting the sound of gunshots, Braintree Police officers
discovered a grim scene. Inside the vehicle, Santos-Andrade and 16-year-old Jahzier Porter, a Braintree High School student, were suffering from gunshot wounds. A third person in the car was physically unharmed. Emergency personnel, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, rendered aid at the scene before transporting both victims to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Despite their efforts, neither Santos-Andrade nor Porter survived their injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide was immediately launched, with detectives from the Braintree Police and Massachusetts State Police collaborating. Authorities have indicated that they believe multiple shooters may have been involved in the attack. While no specific suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced, investigators did locate a suspected getaway car connected to the crime. The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and local police have appealed to the public for any information or video footage that might aid their ongoing investigation into the deaths of the two teenagers.
