In the early morning hours of July 30, 2023, amidst the chaos of a massive block party in Muncie, Indiana, 30-year-old Joseph E. Bonner III was fatally shot. The gathering, attended by hundreds of people, quickly turned tragic as gunfire erupted, leaving one dead and nearly twenty others wounded.
