In the spring of 2024, a young man's life was cut tragically short in Portage, Indiana. Darion Anderson, a 20-year-old male, was killed by gunfire on the evening of April 29th. The fatal incident unfolded in the 5300 block of Aspen Avenue, a residential area that would become the scene of a homicide investigation.
The Portage Police Department led the inquiry into Anderson's death.
Their investigation quickly pointed to a suspect, and just days later, on May 1, 2024, an arrest warrant was secured for Montrell Mclaurin Jr., a 19-year-old resident of nearby Gary, Indiana. Mclaurin was taken into custody on May 3, 2024.
Following his arrest, Montrell Mclaurin Jr. was charged with murder and robbery in connection with the death of Darion Anderson. He was subsequently booked into the Porter County Jail, where he is being held without bond. The charges allege that Mclaurin was responsible for the fatal shooting that ended Anderson's life.
