On the evening of December 13, 1990, Harchand Singh Dhaliwal, a 54-year-old Indian male, was working alone as an attendant at a Hudson Oil station in Portage, Indiana. During his shift, he was robbed and fatally shot in the head at close range with a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun. The assailant took $327.55 from the gas station before fleeing the scene.
