On a tragic afternoon in Madison County, Indiana, 47-year-old Michela D. Hinson, a White female, was found deceased in her vehicle on June 26, 2024. A witness had alerted authorities to a suspicious SUV parked in the Forrestville Cemetery. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Michela in the driver's seat, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
An autopsy would later confirm she had been shot seven times at close range.
Sitting in the passenger seat beside her was her 49-year-old husband, Jeremy Hinson. He was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently arrested for murder. Investigators found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun in his possession, and a search of his home uncovered the box for the firearm with a matching serial number. According to court documents, Jeremy Hinson had blood splattered on him from his forehead down to his ankles. He was taken to a local hospital for a possible overdose.
During a recorded conversation with a family member while incarcerated, Jeremy Hinson reportedly confessed. He expressed remorse, particularly for their two sons, stating, 'Obviously I wasn't thinking right. I don't know what happened to make me do that, but tell them I love them.'
In August 2025, a Madison County jury found Jeremy Hinson guilty of the murder of his wife. The jury also returned a guilty verdict for a felony firearm enhancement. Subsequently, he was sentenced to a total of 75 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, receiving 55 years for the murder and an additional 20 years for the firearm enhancement.
