On June 1, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Romeoville, Illinois, resulting in the deaths of Zena Taher, 27, and her spouse, Firas Syriani, 33 (or 34, as reported in some sources).

The incident took place inside a residence on Ponderosa Drive. According to Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Brant Hromadka, Firas Syriani fatally shot his spouse, Zena Taher, before taking his own life. This act followed a previous verbal altercation between the two.
