Jermayne Watkins, a 28-year-old resident of Oak Forest, Illinois, died on October 14, 2023, as a result of a fatal shooting. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 10, outside a Speedway gas station located at 14002 S. Cicero Ave in Crestwood, Illinois.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Watkins was shot and found with gunshot wounds on the ground. Police were called to the scene at 8:30 p.m. following multiple reports of shots fired. Despite immediate medical attention, Watkins was pronounced dead in the ambulance.
The investigation, conducted by the Crestwood Police Department and the Southwest Major Crimes Task Force, revealed that numerous shell casings were found at the scene. Witness accounts and security footage indicated that a silver SUV fled the scene, heading eastbound on Midlothian Turnpike.
