Tevin Walker, a 30-year-old resident of Freeport, Illinois, died on November 27, 2023, as a result of a shooting incident. The shooting occurred on November 26, 2023, just before 10 a.m. in the 600 block of South Carroll Avenue on the city’s near east side.
After being shot, Walker managed to bring himself to Freeport’s FHN hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to his gunshot wounds.
The Freeport police have identified 38-year-old Christopher Calvin of Freeport as the suspect in this murder. According to police, the crime was not considered random in nature. Calvin has an extensive criminal record in Stephenson County, including a conviction for obstructing justice/destroying evidence in 2007 and a dismissed aggravated DUI charge from last March.
Tevin Walker himself had a history of convictions, including felony fleeing and eluding police and felony cocaine charges in 2016, as well as a conviction for unlawful possession of a credit card in 2013.
As of the latest reports, the search for Christopher Calvin is ongoing, and the public is urged to contact Freeport Police or Stateline Area Crime Stoppers with any information regarding his whereabouts.
Tevin Walker is survived by his parents, Debbie Lacy and Ricky Walker; his children, Jisiah Jacobs, Treyvon Walker, Cannon Walker, and Tahiry Walker; and his significant other, Christine Jacobs. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
