On March 24, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM, 27-year-old Luis A. Ramirez of East Chicago, Indiana, was fatally shot. East Chicago officers responded to a call at 1021 W. 145th Street, where they found an unresponsive Hispanic male bleeding from the head on the sidewalk.

The investigation, led by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Lake County Sheriff Department CSI, resulted in the identification of Christian Reyes Maldonado as a suspect. Maldonado was take ...
