Jimmy A. “Tru” Hollins Jr., a 31-year-old resident of Kewanee, Illinois, passed away on March 24, 2024. He was born on November 13, 1992, in Galesburg, Illinois, to parents Jimmy A. Hollins and Lesa.
Jimmy Hollins Jr. is survived by his family, including his parents, Jimmy A. Hollins and Lesa, and his children, Jordyn Hollins and Caden Reed (whose mother is Madison Dearing). He also leaves behind his siblings, Kyle Hollins and Kayla Hollins, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Prior to his death, Jimmy Hollins Jr. had a significant legal history. In 2011, he was involved in an incident that led to his conviction on multiple charges. On the evening of July 17, 2011, Hollins drove past a group of girls, one of whom was Trisha Tinch, the mother of his daughter. He confronted Trisha, forcibly took her to his vehicle, and engaged in a physical altercation. As a result, he was convicted of vehicular invasion, unlawful restraint, aggravated battery, and domestic battery. He was sentenced to concurrent terms of imprisonment, including 8½ years for vehicular invasion, 6 years for unlawful restraint (later reduced to 3 years on appeal), 5 years for aggravated battery, and 364 days for domestic battery.
At the time of his sentencing, the court considered his juvenile convictions and his history of violating probation. Despite his young age and his role as a loving father, the court noted his persistent involvement with the probation office and the need to ensure public safety in Kewanee.
