On July 11, 2024, 30-year-old Marcus Ranson was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle in Chicago's Chicago Lawn neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Western Avenue. Officers discovered Ranson with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
