On June 4, 2023, Frederick Lamar Scott Jr., a 32-year-old resident of Eatonton, Georgia, was fatally shot at a Shell gas station located at the intersection of East Sumter and Oconee Streets. The incident occurred when Scott Jr. was beside the gas pumps.
