The incident, which occurred on June 20, 2023, also left a man and another woman injured. The violence unfolded on Carey J. Buckner Street when a shooter opened fire from a vehicle. Ms. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation
was called in to assist the Barnesville Police Department with the homicide investigation. The suspected shooter was quickly identified as 33-year-old Eric Spradley of Barnesville. However, before an arrest could be made, Spradley was discovered deceased in Atlanta. Authorities believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
