On July 29, 2023, Jarvis Benard "Fat" Hall Jr., a 24-year-old African American male from Ashburn, Georgia, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in Ashburn, and Hall was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Ashburn Police Department initiated an investigation into the shooting.
