On March 7, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Smithville, Georgia, resulting in the deaths of Jessica Lynn Hatcher Thompson, 41, and her daughter, Julianna Denise Thompson, 17.

The incident was discovered after the Smithville Police Department responded to a 911 call at an apartment in the 100 block of Wells Street in Smithville. Upon arrival, officers found Jessica Thompson and Julianna Thompson dead in the apartment.
