In the early hours of June 19, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Samuel Dorsey III was tragically cut short. Just after midnight, Clarkston police officers responded to a call at the Parc 1000 Apartments on Montreal Road. There, they discovered Dorsey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
For months, the investigation into the shooting continued with few public developments. The Clarkston Police Department appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone who was present during the shooting to come forward with information. A reward of up to $2,000 was offered by Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect. A significant breakthrough in the case came nearly two years later. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, 18-year-old Kalil Alfred was taken into custody at a residence in Ellenwood. The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Clarkston Police Department.
Following his arrest, Kalil Alfred was charged with malice murder in connection with the death of Samuel Dorsey. He was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond. The arrest brought a long-awaited development in a case that had impacted the Clarkston community.
