On March 14, 2023, 22-year-old Rodney Sweeney of Largo, Florida, died as a result of a shooting that occurred at the Surf Style surf shop on Clearwater Beach. The incident happened around 8 p.m. when an argument between Sweeney and two other men escalated into a violent confrontation.
