Giovante Linder, a 22-year-old resident of the Pompano Beach area in Florida, died as a result of a drive-by shooting on May 19, 2023. The incident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on Northwest 19th Street, near the intersection with Interstate-95 and North Dixie Highway.
Linder and two other victims were shot by suspects in a dark, four-door vehicle while they were outside.
When deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) arrived at the scene in response to calls about shots being fired, they found two of the victims and administered first aid until Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived. The paramedics then transported these two victims to a local hospital, where Linder was pronounced dead. The third victim was taken to another hospital in the area by a private vehicle.
The two remaining victims' injuries were not expected to be life-threatening. The BSO's Homicide Unit is currently investigating the shooting, and investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspects, who are considered armed and dangerous.
The BSO released Linder's name and photo after initially protecting it under Marsy's Law. The public is encouraged to provide any information regarding the shooting to Detective Ryan Schnakenberg or through the SaferWatch app, with the option to submit anonymous tips via Broward Crime Stoppers.
