On May 31, 2023, 24-year-old Taj Anthony Butler of Daytona Beach, Florida, was fatally shot in a drive-by incident. While stopped at a red light at the intersection of South Nova Road and Bellevue Avenue, a dark-colored Kia pulled alongside Butler's vehicle, and occupants opened fire, striking him multiple times. Butler was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
