On December 21, 2015, Anatoliy Glavnik, aged 57, was shot and killed in his home during a home invasion on Jacksonville's Southside. The incident occurred on Skycrest Drive, not far from Windy Hill Elementary School. A suspect broke into the residence by kicking in the front door and confronted Glavnik, his daughter, and grandson. During a heated argument, the intruder demanded money and pills.
The situation escalated, leading to the suspect brandishing a handgun and fatally shooting Glavnik in front of his family.
The suspect was described as wearing a mask, jeans, a denim long-sleeved shirt, and work boots. Witnesses reported that he fled the scene in a gray or light-colored SUV heading northbound on Skycrest Drive. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has stated that they believe this attack was targeted, though no immediate suspects or motive were confirmed. Authorities have continued to ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers, offering a reward for tips that could lead to an arrest.
This case is part of a larger trend of violent crime in Jacksonville, particularly during a period in late 2015, when multiple homicides occurred across the city. Despite police efforts, Glavnik's case remains unsolved, and his family continues to seek answers and justice for his tragic death.
