On August 21, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in North Lauderdale, Florida, resulting in the death of 13-year-old Samyiah James. The Broward County Sheriff's Office received reports of a shooting near the 7400 block of SW 12th Court, just a block from Silver Lakes Middle School, around 10:30 p.m.
