Samyiah was a seventh-grade student at Silver Lakes Middle School, known for her generosity and love of singing. Her mother, Lolita Catis, described her as a kind and sweet daughter who was always there for her family. Friends, including Kamya Callins, remembered Samyiah as a smart and ambitious girl who had a lot to live for.
The shooting is believed to have occurred outside an apartment during an argument. As of the report, investigators had not disclosed any leads that could prompt an arrest. A reward of up to $5,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest, and the public was urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers with any relevant information.
Samyiah's family and friends are grappling with the loss, with her mother and friends expressing deep grief and calling for anyone with information to come forward. The community is in pain over the senseless loss of a young life, and there is a strong appeal for justice in Samyiah's case.
