On October 12, 2023, Dexter Eugene Owens, a 34-year-old man, was fatally shot at the Dover Gardens Apartments in Orlando, Florida. The incident occurred after the Orlando Police Department received a 911 call at 6:11 p.m. regarding a loud disturbance at the apartment complex, followed by a second call reporting that a man had been killed inside one of the apartments. Upon arrival, police found Owens with several gunshot wounds inside the doorway of an apartment, where he was unconscious.
