On January 25, 2024, 36-year-old Jeremiah Aguirre, also known as "Jay Reed," was fatally shot at his residence on Lauderdale Court in Poinciana, Florida. Aguirre's body was discovered by his relatives on the following Saturday, January 27, 2024.
The investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office revealed that the murder was committed by 23-year-old Kwavaughn Armani Buckley, who is believed to have acted out of jealousy over a woman.
Buckley, a resident of Winter Park, Florida, forced his way into Aguirre's home and shot him twice, with one of the shots being a fatal wound to the abdomen.
Buckley was identified as the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of felony first-degree murder and armed burglary with assault/battery. He was considered armed and dangerous and was known to frequent the Poinciana area in both Polk and Osceola counties. Buckley drove a silver Chrysler 300, and the public was alerted to be cautious.
On January 30, 2024, Buckley was arrested at his residence by the Winter Park Police Department on the Polk County warrant. He was booked into the Orange County Jail and was scheduled to be transferred to the Polk County Jail at a later time. During the arrest, a firearm was recovered, which investigators were working to confirm as the possible murder weapon.
Jeremiah Aguirre, born on July 3, 1987, in Flushing, New York, was a proud father and enjoyed activities such as playing Call of Duty, going to the gym, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Tanya and Gustavo Aguirre; his daughters, Andia Tanya Aguirre and Aria Juliana Aguirre; his siblings; and his partner of eight years, Elizabeth Bowers, among other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life and graveside service were held for him on February 2, 2024, in Haines City and Davenport, Florida, respectively.
