Pamela Ray Missing Person Case

Pamela June Ray, a 36-year-old mother from Atlanta, Georgia, disappeared on August 12, 1992, during a trip to Panama City Beach, Florida. She had traveled with her two children, planning a short vacation before the start of the school year. After arriving in Panama City around 3:30 a.m., she found no vacant motel rooms and decided to park her car at the Wilhite Apartments complex. Pamela left her children sleeping in the vehicle, along with her purse and keys, and walked toward the pool area. Witnesses saw her being followed by an unidentified man shortly before screams were heard in the area. She was never seen again.

Authorities quickly launched a search effort. Pamela's family, including her husband and sister, arrived to help, offering a reward and distributing flyers. Despite these efforts, no significant clues were uncovered. A man matching the description of the suspect, who had been seen with Pamela, was later arrested for another crime, but no definitive link was made to her disappearance.

Several years later, convicted murderer Mark Riebe confessed to Pamela's murder, claiming he abducted her at knifepoint. However, Riebe later recanted his confession, casting doubt on his involvement. Despite this, many investigators believe Riebe’s initial confession contained details only the killer could have known, such as Pamela holding a key when she was last seen, a habit she was known for. However, no physical evidence has ever been found to confirm Riebe’s involvement. Pamela's case remains open, and foul play is strongly suspected.
