On February 5, 2024, 17-year-old Brandon Gordon was found dead on a pedestrian bridge in Miami Gardens, Florida. His body was discovered under the bridge, near his bicycle, at the intersection of Northwest 29th Avenue and 167th Street, which crosses over the Palmetto Expressway near Golden Glades Elementary School. Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area around 7 a.m. and found Gordon suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of paramedics from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brandon Gordon lived with his mother in Miramar and attended Everglades High School. His family, including his father Dorance Gordon and grandmother Elba Fenwick, have been deeply affected by his death. Dorance Gordon described Brandon as "the sweetest kid" and expressed his desperation to find out what happened to his son. Elba Fenwick remembered Brandon as a good kid who would often spend weekends with her and expressed her wish for anyone with information to come forward.
The Miami Gardens Police are actively investigating the incident but have not released any information about a motive or a description of a potential shooter. They have appealed to the public for help and have distributed flyers in the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Miami Gardens Police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477), with the possibility of receiving a reward of up to $5,000 for helpful information.
The family has shared photographs and memories of Brandon, highlighting his importance to them. Brandon's mother, Doralba, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook, recalling the last time she saw her son and the love they shared. The community and family are seeking justice and answers regarding the circumstances of Brandon's tragic death.
