On April 28, 2016, Kendar Del Rosario, aged 37, was involved in an incident that resulted in his death in Miami, Florida. Around 1:45 a.m., a Miami Police officer encountered Del Rosario in the vicinity of Northwest 7th Avenue and 2nd Street. The officer responded to a chaotic scene where Del Rosario, wielding a knife, was allegedly in an altercation with a bloodied woman who was screaming for help.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officer, Juan Herrera, discharged his weapon, fatally striking Del Rosario. According to the police report, the confrontation occurred outside an apartment where Del Rosario had reportedly stabbed a two-year-old child, who was later rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Unit for emergency surgery. The two-year-old child was critically injured, while another individual, an eighteen-year-old, was unharmed.
The Miami Police Department has indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to fully understand the relationships involved and any additional details of the confrontation.
